A pray from a lonely traveler

 Oh dear God
Wash my hands
So as to cleanse the filth they contain
Let me feast and be sustained by your bounty
Cause my eyes to take pleasure in your pleasure

Let my lonely walks
Challenge me to think of you

The human condition causes me to rot and decay
But with every despair it is to you I pray:
Dear lord forgive me of my sins

Capture me with the light of your deen
Cause me not to worry about this passing world
Focus my heart on remembrance of you
Cause me not to cry over the losses of this world
Help me to be happy in your pleasure
Help me to disdain sin in every measure

When I looked at the moon last night
I knew I understood
You were with me
Guiding me my Lord

Walking through the streets like a loner
On concrete roads
I never felt your presence more sincerely

"Don't grieve for Allah is with us"

Narrated Al Bara bin Azib (ra)

Abu Bakr (ra) came to my father who was at home and purchased a saddle from him. He said to 'Azib (ra). "Tell your son to carry it with me." So I carried it with him and my father followed us so as to take the price (of the saddle). My father said, "O Abu Bakr! Tell me what happened to you on your night journey with Allah's Apostle (Muhammad peace be upon him) (during Migration)." He said, "Yes, we travelled the whole night and also the next day till midday, when nobody could be seen on the way ( because of the severe heat) .

Then there appeared a long rock having shade beneath it, and the sunshine had not come to it yet. So we dismounted there and I levelled a place and covered it with an animal hide or dry grass for the Prophet to sleep on (for a while). I then said, 'Sleep, O Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him), and I will guard you.' So he slept and I went out to guard him. Suddenly I saw a shepherd coming with his sheep to that rock with the same intention we had when we came to it. I asked (him). 'To whom do you belong, O boy?' He replied, 'I belong to a man from Medina or Mecca.' I said, 'Do your sheep have milk?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Will you milk for us?' He said, 'Yes.' He caught hold of a sheep and I asked him to clean its teat from dust, hairs and dirt. (The sub-narrator said that he saw Al-Bara' striking one of his hands with the other, demonstrating how the shepherd removed the dust.) The shepherd milked a little milk in a wooden container and I had a leather container which I carried for the Prophet (peace be upon him)to drink and perform the ablution from.

I went to the Prophet, hating to wake him up, but when I reached there, the Prophet (peace be upon him) had already awakened; so I poured water over the middle part of the milk container, till the milk was cold. Then I said, 'Drink, O Allah's Apostle!' He drank till I was pleased.

Then he asked, 'Has the time for our departure come?' I said, 'Yes.' So we departed after midday. Suraqa bin Malik followed us and I said, 'We have been discovered, O Allah's Apostle!' He said, Don't grieve for Allah is with us.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) invoked evil on him (i.e. Suraqa) and so the legs of his horse sank into the earth up to its belly. (The subnarrator, Zuhair is not sure whether Abu Bakr (ra) said, "(It sank) into solid earth.") Suraqa said, 'I see that you have invoked evil on me. Please invoke good on me, and by Allah, I will cause those who are seeking after you to return.' The Prophet invoked good on him and he was saved. Then, whenever he met somebody on the way, he would say, 'I have looked for him here in vain.' So he caused whomever he met to return. Thus Suraqa fulfilled his promise."

Sahih Al-Bukhari 4.812

They seek to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths , but Allah will perfect His Light...

They seek to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His Light, much as the unbelievers may dislike it. It is He Who has sent His Rasool with the guidance and the religion of truth so that he may proclaim it over all religions, much as the Mushrikin (idolaters) may dislike it. O believers! Should I tell you of a bargain that will save you from a painful punishment? It is to believe in Allah and His Rasool and strive your utmost in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your persons. That is best for you, if you but knew it. He will forgive you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow, and will lodge you in beautiful mansions in the gardens of Eden, which will be a supreme achievement. And yet another blessing which you love: help from Allah and a speedy victory. So O Prophet, give this good news to the believers. O believers! Be the helpers of Allah, just as Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam said to his disciples: "Who will be my helper in the cause of Allah?" And the disciples responded: "We will be your helpers in the cause of Allah." Then a group from the children of Israel believed in him (Isa) and another group disbelieved. We aided the believers against their enemies, so they became victorious. The Holy Quran , Surah: 61 Verses : 8-14

Praisest thee

Oh dear God
My love to thee who is the merciful and kind indeed
Fair and mighty he judge us by deed
Not my color does he care
Or the texture of my hair
It is not the shoes I wear
Nor the language which I speak
For he judge me by my deed

He created one man so long ago
And taught him the knowledge from himself
Bow to Adam so he said
But the Jinn stood tall and proud
And before his lord refused to bow
The Jinn was ungrateful arrogantly so
And fell from grace
To be abhorred

But quietly not he left he promised to make mischief in the land
And behind our ears he whispers thought
But never take our hand in action
We make the choice to follow true
Or fall to lies and pay our due

The righteous shall do whats right
The wrong shall be punished with great might
They well ask for second chance
But will be granted nothing of the sort

The prophets came to them indeed
So why not follow them in heed
To love thy lord what makes you not
Is it that you just forgot

The blessing are abundant so
The food we eat the plants we grow
The children we have
The friends we love
His glory be in what we know

The little things both good and bad
Show you all you need to know
To give you chance
To repent your soul

Frolic upon beauty so bright
But only if thee do what right
Though the pressure great and strong
T'was what call them to stray away

Darkest nights
And brightest sun
All create by the one
The grass that grows
The trees that shade
Should cause man to stop and think

Not one could cause a plant to grow
Though the think they causest so
But if it be that you are
Then try to give the blind man sight

Or try to stop a human death
Or try to go right when he command you left
Control the time with your hand
Make food grow upon destitute land

Then ye know the truth indeed
Understand the will of God
None is better then our lord
He is better to be adored

Upon my rest
I'll think of thee
The one you save me from my self
The one who strengthens me with health
You rest me down to sleep
And bring me live from the dead

Please lord bless me one more night
To forbid what's wrong
And do what's right
So I be among heaven sent
And not among the burning dead

Let's Read How Our Creator Introduces Himself.

" 95. Verily it is Allah who causes the seed-grain and fruit-stone (like date-stone) to split and sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead, and it is He Who brings forth the dead from the living. Such is Allah, then how are you deluded away from the truth ?

96. He causes the dawn to break. He has appointed the night for resting, and the sun and the moon for reckoning. Such is the measuring of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.

97. It He Who has set the stars for you, So that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land and the sea. We have (indeed) explained in detail Our Ayat (Proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, Revelations etc.) for people who know.

98. It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and has given you a place of residing (on the earth or in your mother's wombs) and a place of storage (in the earth or in graves)
Indeed, We have explained in detail Our revelations (this Quran) for people who understand.

99. It is He Who sends down water (rain) from the sky, and with it We bring forth vegetation of all kinds, and out of it We bring forth green stalks, from wich We bring forth clustered grain. And out of the date-palm and its spathe come forth clusters and dates hanging low and near, and gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety and taste). Look at their fruits when they begin to bear, and the ripeness thereof. Verily ! in these things there are signs for those who believe.

100. And they make the jinn associates with Allah, while He created them (the jinn), and they attribute falsely without knowledge sons and daughers to Him. Be He Glorified and Exalted above all that (evil) they attribute to Him.

101. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have childrens when He has no wife?

He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything.

102. Such is Allah your Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He), the Creator of all things.

So worship Him (Alone), and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian) over all things

103. No vision can grasp Him, but He grasps all vision, He is Al-Latif (the most Subtle and Courteous), Well-Aquainted with all things.

Verily, Proofs have come to you from your Lord, So whoever sees, will do so for (the good of) his ownself, and whoever blinds himself, will do so to his own harm, and I (Muhammad peace be upon him) am not a watcher over you.

105. Thus We explain variously the verses so that they (the disbelievers) may say : "You have studied" (the books of the people of the scripture and brought this Quran from that).

And that We may make the matter clear for the people who have knowledge.

106. Follow what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad peace be upon Him) from your Lord, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He) and turn aside from the polythiests.

Who is Muhammad (PBUH)?

Who is Muhammad (PBUH)?

By: Laura Cosse'

Who is Muhammad (PBUH)?

Muhammad (peace be upon him) is, without a doubt, the most controversial figure in world history.  No other personality throughout time has conjured up such overpowering emotion from the masses.  On the Muslim side he is absolutely the most venerated and beloved man ever, a mercy sent to the entire world from God and the final prophet to all of mankind.  The western view, however, has been anything but philanthropic.  Rather, there has been a continuous “smear campaign” raged against this man from the very onset of the revelations and throughout the Middle Ages, perhaps most notably in the times of the Crusades.  Accusations abound, some saying he copied the Bible, some saying he had hallucinations in the throws of an epileptic fit, and still others claiming that he was receiving false revelations from Satan himself.

So who was this man who today has more than 1.6 billion followers?  Who was this man that Michael Hart named as the “most influential person in history” in his 1978 book, The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History?   What is it about him that continues to inspire so many people today in the west and afar, causing Islam to be the fastest growing religion in the world?  Why is Muhammad the most common name in the world today?

Of course the answer is too broad to attempt in this short article, but perhaps we can have a brief introduction to this great prophet of God.  His name was Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, which means Muhammad (PBUH) the son of Abd Allah the son of Abd al-Muttalib.  He was born into the tribe of Quraysh and the family of Banu Hashim in Mecca around 570 CE, to a family standard that could be described as “upper middle class.”  His father died before he was born and his mother died when he was around six years old.  The young orphan was then sent to live with his paternal grandfather, Abd al-Muttalib.  When he was just eight years old, his grandfather also died and Muhammad (PBUH) was cared for by his uncle, Abu Talib, who continued to support and protect him for the next 40 years.

Mecca was a thriving commercial center and the home of the Ka’aba which is believed to have been built by Abraham and his son Ishmael.  Even in that era of pre-Islam the Ka’aba was a holy site of pilgrimage for all of Arabia, but at that time it was filled with idols that were thought to be intermediaries between the worshipper and Allah.  In pre-Islamic Arabia Allah was recognized as the Supreme Being, but the paganism and idolatry had corrupted the true religion that was originally brought to the Arabs by Ishmael.

It is known that Muhammad (PBUH) never partook in idol worshipping and was greatly disturbed by it.  He was known to retreat for weeks at a time to a cave where he would pray to God alone and ask for guidance.  At some point in his late teens he began to accompany his uncle to Syria with the trading caravans, giving him the knowledge to become a successful merchant.  Among the people of Mecca he was nicknamed “Al-Amin” which means “The Trustworthy” due to his honesty and integrity displayed in every aspect of his life.  This reputation attracted a 40 year old widow named Khadija who proposed marriage to Muhammad (PBUH) while he was in his mid twenties.  They were happily married for more than twenty years and had 6 children together, however his sons died in their early childhood.

So, Muhammad (PBUH) was well-loved and respected by his family and friends before the revelations of the Qur’an began.  The most famous incident in his life before Islam was his arbitration between four major clans in Mecca that were near taking up arms against each other.  There had been a flash flood that destroyed part of the Ka’aba and each of the four major tribes were helping to rebuild the holy structure.  The last stone to be placed was the black stone of the corner and each of the tribes wanted the honor of putting the stone back in its place.  They decided that the next person who walked through the doors of the mosque would decide which tribe would have the honor of replacing the black stone.  When they saw Muhammad (PBUH) walk in they were overjoyed, for here came Al-Amin, and they were confident he would find a just solution.  Muhammad’s solution was to place the black stone on a cloak and have one member of each of the four clans hold a corner to lift it up, and Muhammad (PBUH) himself put the stone in place.  Everyone was happy with this solution and fighting was averted.
